In the summer of 2013, I, Flory Sanderson, owner of Island Hill Farm, opened my farm to the public. It has always been my dream to share my farm and its origin story. Since 1989, I have resided in this farmhouse, where I got married and raised three amazing daughters. My life revolves around farming, educating, and creating memories with visitors one at a time. My journey in agriculture began at the age of 16, and over time, I have grown to love the passion and hard work it demands. Choosing this lifestyle was a deliberate decision; it's not suitable for everyone, but it is perfect for me. I am committed to what I do and strive to make a difference in everyday life for myself, my team, and our visitors.
Since then our farm has grown bigger than I could have ever imagined. Thanks to the support from Islanders and Tourists from all over the world who have made our farm a "must visit" destination when visiting PEI. In 2020 we encountered a global pandemic and it changed the way we did things and many businesses, myself included, felt that impact. Realizing how my farm has become a happy place for so many, I pushed forward. I continue to operate and grow this business on my own with the help of my staff. COVID19 has been life altering and a learning curve for us all, but I have learned to dance with it and make the changes needed to be sustainable. |
