Island Hill Farm's Agriculture Experience Camp
This summer, let’s grow some young farmers
Island Hill Farm's Agriculture Experience Camp!
As the Island opens up again, we celebrate farmers and farming – the essential workers we have always counted on to keep us clothed and fed, and the traditions that have been passed down for generations.
If your child loves animals, is curious about nature, and craves a healthy, hands-on experience they will never forget, sign up now! Camp spaces are limited to 6 children per week (ages 6 to 12) and there are only four camp sessions of two consecutive weeks each.
Campers will spend the day learning where their food comes from, how to care for rabbits and chickens, and participating in basic barn chores like feeding and cleaning the animals! They will see eggs hatch, greet new baby bunnies, and get know our many goats at the largest goat farm on Prince Edward Island; each goat has a name! Because of the small groups, the kids will have individual attention from our staff and camp leaders, and will get to meet guest experts on things like animal husbandry, sustainable farm practices, and how to milk a goat!
All our lead Educators are experienced farmers and teachers with current first aid certification. We provide a safe and inclusive environment that is also the #cutestplaceonearth
Sign up now! Or visit www.islandhillfarm.ca for more information

The ideal IHF Farm Experience camper doesn’t mind getting dirty, enjoys animals, and is eager to participate in activities. This is a hands-on camp! But it’s not all work! The animals show their gratitude in love and great selfies. And we will tie-dye t-shirts; bring a white t-shirt for that! Campers are responsible for their own food, drinks, and snacks and should bring a hat, repellant and sunscreen. A change of clothes and proper footwear (no sandals, please) are also required.
Baby goats sometimes make a mess 😊

Let’s get into more details:
You will learn from Farmer Flory – take a walk around the property with her and her dairy girls.
Farmer Flory is a wealth of knowledge and she will teach you so much about so many subjects here at the farm.
You will shop for feed (with funds given) in our feed store and learn how to ration and pay for food for the animals, purchase their bedding and learn how to clean their stalls.
You’ll cover environmental topics – like solar!
We’ll talk about composting, did you know goat manure is great for the Earth?
You’ll learn about all of the breeds here at the farm.
What do our animals do? They each have a job. Learn what Gavin the miniature donkeys purpose is.
What is the fibre used for from our llamas, alpacas, and sheep.
We’ll spend some time baking in the farmhouse and learn about farm to table.
What do we do with our dairy goats milk? What can you make with it?
You’ll have a chance to tour our soap facility and see where all of our handmade products are made.
